I don’t even know how to state how much pain you’ve been through.

‘Condolence’ …somehow,part of me despise that word. Maybe because I’m not used to it yet, or probably because I’m not fond of hearing that word, emphasizing the very fact of our loss. Everything’s still fresh- it feels bizarre. But I know one thing’s for sure: ‘Condolence’ is not the word I want to associate with her departure. You went through a lot of pain already, so God decided to put an end to it. God knows how much you fought, how you struggled to live longer- even I saw it from my own view.

You may not have died for a country’s freedom or so, but you’re my mother- MY hero.

I will miss your smile, your scent, the way you brush my hair. Your Biko specialty that everyone will surely go looking for this (and the upcoming) Holidays. The way you crazily ring the bell, chanting ‘bad spirits’ away for a more fruitful New Year. The way you arrange the flowers at the altar- telling me that God deserves to receive flowers as well; he is, after all, the reason why we all bloom, the one who brings color in life. The times you just randomly dance into some silly music, silly indeed- but it makes me happy. To everything; down to the very sermons you give me that I secretly want to extinguish before, but deep down inside I know that it’s just how you care for me. It hurts, but it’s just the way you love.

The pain’s over, Ma. Rest now. I can’t thank you enough for my life. I love you and I will miss you >:((<
